The founder

Jean-Baptiste Gérard
Founder & President
As a child, Jean-Baptiste Gérard studied drawing, painting and sculpture at the Beaux-Arts, and piano at the conservatoire. Art and culture took hold in him before he could measure their reach, and ended up tracing the path his life would follow.
An international career followed, at the intersection of business and innovation. Through his travels, the same picture returned from one ocean to the next: bleached reefs, plastics found all the way down to deep waters, shorelines slowly giving way.
That direct encounter with the fragility of the living world marked a turning point. Ocean preservation, the fight against biodiversity collapse and the passing on of an ecological awareness became a personal cause. Paris eventually became his anchor, not as a destination, but as a point of departure.
He now mentors young talents at Sciences Po Paris and CentraleSupélec, in programs where ambition meets purpose.
In 2025, he founded the Gérard Foundation. Five areas of action: education, art and culture, the environment, health, and the fight against poverty.
« Empowering lives, building futures — together. »
The Gérard Foundation is a non-profit organization founded on the belief that access to education, culture, and health is not a privilege — it is a universal right.
